About Bentwall
A wall for photographs.
Not a shop.
Single images by photographers who mean them, hung newest first and credited to whoever made them. Nothing here is for sale, and nothing is promoted.
No prices, no buy buttons. A place to be seen, not a place to sell.
No algorithm and no paid placement. A work’s place on the wall depends on when it was hung, and nothing else.
Every work is reviewed before it goes up. If it isn’t right for the wall, you get a real reason.
Every work carries its photographer’s name and links to their page. Photographers keep every right.
What hangs here
Art, not glamour
Bentwall is for artistic photography: the kind a photographer would call art. Light that was considered, a frame that was composed, a subject chosen for a reason.
That includes the nude, as it has been in photography since the beginning: the figure as form, light and line. It does not include nudity whose purpose is sexual appeal. Art nudes are welcome; glamour and boudoir nudes are not. Where a picture sits between the two, the reviewer decides, and explains.
Welcome
- Portraits and self-portraits
- Figure and fine-art photography
- Art nudes
- Black and white, film, alternative processes
- Any camera, from a phone to a large format
Not here
- Glamour or boudoir nudity
- Erotic or sexualised poses, and sexual acts
- AI-generated or AI-altered images
- Watermarks, logos or text on the picture
- Anyone who didn’t agree to be shown
- Work that isn’t yours
Every work on the wall is a photograph of something that was in front of the camera. No generated images, and no AI used to add, remove or change people, bodies or faces. The usual work of developing a photograph — exposure, colour, contrast, a crop, a retouched blemish — is fine.
Who it’s for
Any photographer with work to show
Photographers on BentBox
A place for the artistic side of your work, apart from everything else. Sign in with the account you already have; your verification carries over, and your work gets a page of its own at bentwall.com/you.
Everyone else
You don’t need to be on BentBox, or ever go there. Create a free account here and send your photographs. If your work includes nudity, you verify your ID once first. That’s all there is to it.
Connections
A map drawn by photographers
Photographers on the wall can connect their own work to any work that speaks to it, and say how: in conversation, inspired by, the same light, the same place. The other photographer is always told, and if both agree, each work shows the other. No algorithm decides what belongs together; photographers do. How connections work.
Behind the wall
How it’s run
Bentwall is its own site, built on BentBox, which has hosted photographers’ work since 2017. Accounts, identity checks and image storage are BentBox’s, so a Bentwall account is a BentBox account: the same username and password work on both, and you can use either or both.
- Nudity needs a verified photographer. Work with nudity is only shown once its photographer has passed a one-time identity and age check through ProntoID. Documents stay with ProntoID and are never shown to anyone.
- Every work is certified. The photographer confirms it is their own, and that everyone in it is 18 or over and agreed to be shown. No one under 18 appears on the wall, in any work.
- Every work is reviewed. A person looks at each one before it goes up. Works on Bentwall also hang on the Art Wall at BentBox.
Visiting
Why some works are covered
Bentwall is open to everyone, with no sign-up needed to look. Most of the wall is work without nudity, shown to all. The art nudes stay softly covered until you confirm you are 18 or over; we remember that on your device, so you are asked once, not once per picture.
If you are in a picture
It comes down when you ask
Anyone who appears in a work can have it taken down, without an account and without giving a reason. Write to info@bentbox.co with a link. If you didn’t agree to it being shown, it comes off the wall while we look into it. More about your rights.
